Also, you're going to have to negotiate the airport security system before you ever get to your gate, so: #1 GET THERE EARLY. And I mean early, like in 2 - 3 hours before your flight. #2 Have somebody to help you with your luggage, kids, ticket lines, etc. Doing it all yourself plus keeping track of the children and their toys is just too much. You'll be frazzled before you ever get on the plane. #3 Notify the airline before hand if you need a child seat, special meals, etc. #4 Minimize your carry on luggage. If it can be packed in your checked luggage, do it. You'll have enough stuff to carry on with the kids' toys, diaper bag, food, etc. #5 Bring children's favorite toys, security blankets, and a few little snacks and surprises along to keep them entertained. #6 Dress for battle. You're going to look like you went through hell at the end of the flight (and you will have done so!) Don't worry about your hair, makeup, wrinkled clothes, the kids' appearance.
