My wife and I are heading there in September and we are staying near the airport, but during the weekend I plan to get a hotel in Midtown or Buckhead.

Original question was answered telling me to fly to CLT however, Greensboro is closer via Delta. The fare is too expensive and I would like to consider Amtrak and know what the closest city would be to Wilkesboro, NC, the cost and the schedule and the travel time involved. ...
